Need reccomendations for small japanese style fixed blade...

Can't think of anything fixed, but folder-wise there're tons.

There're Cold Steel, CRKT, Benchmade, and countless other manufacturers that have many models in an American / Japanese style Tanto.

Pros and cons of a Tanto are pretty straight forward, forward power ( thrusting , stabbing, piercing ) on the blade is increased while it sacrifices the cutting power. At first I was all into the black-coated blades and the Tanto style blades, but then realized shortly after they're not all that great. Just my opinion though. Drop / Clip points are all around better in performance.

Good luck finding a one you like.

Kiku Matsuda is another one to look into. Overall affordable knives, too

Yup, I have many of his knives and he is a great guy too ! I can highly recommend his stuff.

There are many good makers doing Japanese style knives in all sizes so there is a lot to choose from. I tend to like my Japanese Japanese style knives though.:p

I've been getting some good use out this little cutting machine of late. It's a Rockstead Chou, in YXR-7 steel.:thumbup:
