Need Recommendations for 5 Pocket Knives

Sorry to hear about your family member.

I'm thinking something traditional looking.
You can get a Buck 110 w/s30v blade in brass and ebony for $100.
Backed by Buck's forever warranty.
You could get those within the week.

Whatever you chose I'm sure they will appreciate it.
Good luck.

edit;
The Buck 841 is a great knife if your looking more modern.
I have one also and like it.

So sad. Very kind thought of her, and a huge F cancer! Smoke and prayers for her and your family.

In the price range you are at, I'd consider Benchmade 940 lineup, Spyderco para2, or Protech tr3 if autos are ok.
Benchmade 940 is a good idea. Lots of options too.

I'd do a Benchmade or Spyderco. If you don't need engraving order from knifecenter and pay for expedited shipping but make sure they show in stock.

I'd go benchmade griptilian or Hogue Ritter RSK. Order from Knifeworks and have laser engraving done for a small fee.

Benchmade Mini Crooked River for larger EDC, Bugout for smallest, 940 is a classic in middle of previous 2 suggestions. All ambi, and can be had with any number of steels and colors. Shop your favorite online store offering exclusives or in-house variations, or call Benchmade and ask for estimate of time to you with the online custom shop.
Also, you need these ASAP, to anchor the gifts in the hearts and memories before her death and the next experience of grieving the loss. The sooner the better, with your haste fitting the families beliefs about death. Beliefs add dimension, good or bad, relief or more turmoil. I pray Jesus comforts you and yours tas237.

I totally agree. They arrive Wednesday so she can give them before she’s no longer conscious and able to do it herself.

You can't go wrong with the Benchmade Bugout of Spyderco PM3. You can even get the PM3 for $183 in S110v, which is an amazing edge-retention steel (but harder than most to sharpen and not stainless). I see BladeHQ also has the bugout in 20CV for $200, which another great steel.

Get each one a Spyderco Delica. They are a nice size with good blade metallurgy and easy to maintain.

Perhaps a Benchmade 945? $159 on the generic PX website, the one where you shop your exchange .. (can't link because of site rules but let me know if you want me to send it direct). Same website, the Benchmade Crooked River is also $189 right now. Both are very nice knives in different sizes

Sorry for what you're going through. My dad passed of cancer in the spring, had to go on hospice and all that. Just make the most of the available time is all I can say.
.
Edit: Just caught the post on choosing para 3s. Great idea.

GEC is the first thing that came to mind. Not locking, but kids have been packing slipjoints forever. Definitely heirloom quality.

I usually give out several recommendations, and almost never recommend Buck knives.

But for this case, I cant think of anything better than a Buck 110 in the 2021 Legacy trim. Spydercos, Benchmades, good knives, but all feel sterile compared to this knife.

Best wishes friend, whatever you pick is always the right pick.

At $150 to $200, you have a lot of options. Hard to beat the Spyderco Paramilitary 2 in S30V, and have some change left over to buy a $15 Milwaukee folding utility knife also.
