Alright I am looking for a production or semi-production bushcraft blade. Here are the parameters I am looking for:

High Carbon Steel
Scandi Grind
About 4" Blade length
Full Tang
Synthetic handle (Micarta?)
$150 Price point

The blade will be used for camp use. I really fell in love with this blade (http://store.martinknives.com/auto/...2853&id2=1984473&id3=YES&id4=martinknives.com), however it appears to be a flat-ground instead of scandi. I prefer the scandi for woodworking and ease of sharpening....

I appreciate any input guys.

Any reason you prefer production blades? There are many talented makers who can make the knife you describe around that price point.

Well I said production because I figured a custom blade with those specifics would put me well over that price.... Also because I am impatient and don't like to wait to get new toys, tho....

The wait time is a concern, but that price range is reasonable for some custom makers here.

You can get one of the Spyderco bushcraft 2nd's. However, I would order a custom as others have mentioned. Lots of makers that can offer a custom at that rate.

Hearing what you said, and despite your not wanting a custom, you really need to consider the JK Scandi Bushcrafter. John has a ton of handle choices including several flavors of micarta and will even do G10 for a bit extra. Base price is 140, 10 bucks extra for G10, right in your price range. Includes a leather or kydex sheath too.

4 inch blade, full tang, choice of thicknesses (I went with 3/32nd, 1/8 seems to be most popular, he could do thicker if you wanted)

I've got one of these myself, I opted for some fancy curly birch handles, but here's some pics of others. These are all forge finished, but he will do a satin blade finish if you want as well.

Heck, if you order one I'll let you borrow my Mora 2K until you get the blade.

I have the exact knife you pictured from Martin Knives. I know you posted that you prefered the Scandi grind, but I can tell you, the BT is an awesome knife, robust/durable as hell. I'm not sure there's anything I could put this through that would harm it, as well as keeping an edge. I'll agree that a scandi grind is nice, and maybe Eddie Martin could do that for you. I worked on my knife parameters with him (nothing big, just blade material and bolster materials) but he may be able to do that exact grind you're looking for in the BT format. I'm obviously not making committments for him, but if you don't ask you'll never know.

Get a custom

These two knives (Bushie and Bushboot) are for Txbasstech. They are Mesquite over Texas Ebony. The Bushboot is hand rubbed.

The Recluses are coming right along.

And check out the Arete!! One for Tony and the first convex one, may be Tals, but the handle is only .91" wide. He may want the next one.

Cocobolo. Drool. I bought 6 board feet of this when I saw the color. The pins are G-10 (jade), and so is the bullseye filler.

Bark River Liten Bror. meets the criteria and is a superb blade that'll last you a lifetime. the slightly convex scandi grind is easy to sharpen and takes a crazy sharp edge. im sure you can find one gently used for $150. or simply contract one of the many makers around here... they'll cook you up something nice for around $150... Brian Andrews comes to mind...

I would also go the route of getting a custom and have a Mora hold me over. You may not get the knife right away, but you will be glad you took the time to wait for it ;)

You will get exactly what you want, not something close to what you want.

how about ESEE knives... i got the RC3 and I like it...

EDIT: they have a no questions asked warranty and you can get one shipped for 92 bucks... that includes a MOLLE Sheath system... pretty nice... you should look into them... eseeknives.com or look for the subforum here...

He said Scandi grind fellas.

Fiddleback Arete.
Fiddleback Terrasaur
Koster Bushcrafter
Adventure Sworn Bushcrafter

Those I have experience with and would bet my life on them.
