Successful test of my pid controlled oven yesterday. Curing the bricks and then 8 hours at 1900F for the elements.

I do see that the door on the latch side has a small gap I'd like to fill. Plus I'd like to limit the contact between the door bricks and the oven bricks as they are so delicate.

The rope gasket I've found online is for fireplace and rated for only 1000F.

I figure I need about 1/4 diameter rated for 2000F.

Anyone have a source?

Thanks.

You should be able to get it from most any Kiln supplier, refractor supplier, or maybe even places like Auber Instruments. Tyr Paragon, Sugar Creek, Evenheat, etc.

This Ebay seller carries all sorts of supplies, but only shows the insulating rope in whole rolls. I bet he can supply a smaller quantity than several hundred feet.

I know Lowe's carries some over near the patio heaters. However, I'm not sure what the temp rating is.

Look for LYNN 9402 Kaowool rope. It is 3/8" rated for 2000F. Not very many places sell it online.
