Need smoke for my mutt

You need to control her pain. The pelvis always breaks in at least THREE places. CALL YOUR VET TO GET PAIN MEDS. DO NOT GIVE HER HUMAN DRUGS. You give her the wrong thing, even once, and you can kill her.

Mongo,

She is on 2 pain killers, Rimidyl, and Tramadol. She has calmed down since last time, and we went to the vet today to see how she was doing. When we put her in the truck, she stood up of 4 legs for the first time, and at the vet he did a number of tests. He tested for her "deep pain" nerve, I think it was the sciatic nerve. she was laying on the nuero damamged leg whenhe performed the test, which was just clamping her toes with hemostats and gently twisting them. At first, she had no response, but later he did it again when she was laying on the other side, and has a little response, but not that much. It surprised the docter she had that much though. She was peeing all day today, but her bladder was still full when we took her, and he expressed it. Her sphictor is still tightening, so that was a good sign. The docter said she was alot better then she was 2 days ago though. The docter said that the way she was by the 2 week mark would be the way shed stay, so we have to hope she can start walking and showing control of her bladder.

Update: She will live to chase squirrels once again. All last week she got better at walking, so on sunday I took her out to the shop with me. When we came back in, as always I told her to go pee, just to be sure. She went in the bushes, tryed to squat, and fell down on her hind legs. I was dissapointed to say the least. Then she came out of the bushes, and low and behold, there was a huge yellow spot there. I called my dad and he came running. We both cryed when he got there. This was the defining factor in whether she could live or not, so we were very happy to say the least. She goes out about 4 times a day now, hobbles over to the bushes, pees, poops, and then hobbles back to the steps where I carry her up them. She also has regained control of her tail, and is starting to regain control of her left leg, where the neurological damage was. For comparison, the first time she walked, that left leg hung limp, and flopped around like an overdone noodle. Now she puts weight on it, and is starting to walk on it again. The right leg is also healing, because she has begun to lay on her right side, and the other night she started scratching her head with it. Ever since she could pee and poop again, she has become alot more at ease, and more of personality has come back. When she first got hit, we thought she would atleast lose her tail and left leg, if not her life. Now she can keep her tail, her leg, and her life. It is a miracle, and I went to church the last 3 sundays giving thanks to god for saving her life. The pastor even mentioned her last sunday. Thanks for all the love and support you have sent to daisy. Shes one tough girl!

Good on you for nursing your best friend back to health

I am heartened to hear she is one the mend. I'll be sending smoke for her continued recovery. :)
