Sold some knives and am in the market for another knife :p, I have narrowed it down to either the carbon fiber lg seb (full scale cf) or an Sng. At the moment i have a lg gabon inlay so Im sure i will love the cf seb but i have never handled a strider. It seems like its one of those knives that you must try at one time or another if you have a chance.

Any advice welcome! Thanks!

I preferred my large CF Sebenza to my sng - mainly due to greater cutting edge.

Both are fine knives. I think of the Strider as more tactical/aggressive in appearance and use. The Sebenza, more of a conservative knife for EDC. Each is highly capable. I've owned quite a few of each. Right now, I have one Strider, three large Sebenzas, one Umnumzaan in this category.
My personal preference is a plain old titanium-slabbed CRK. No doubt in my mind.

My CRK's always felt like they were worth the money, my striders felt like they should have cost half of what they did

Large or small? 21 or 25?

I would get the SNG if i was you, like you said you need to try it at one point or another, it might as well be now. With the sebenza you will already know what to expect since you already have a sebenza. Personally i think if you buy too much of one thing it can get dull, why not experience a totally new knife and see how you like it.

I like buying different knives too because sometimes it makes me appreciate another knife a lot more, since i have more models to compare it too, or it also makes you appreciate the differences of knives, like while i really enjoy the cutting geometry of the sebenza blade, i really love the ergonomics of the strider sng for example.

I am guilty of buying the same stuff over and over again though, i mean i do have three sng's right now and i have had countless sebenza's purchased right after the other, but i do like to mix it up just because it's more interesting that way.

Best of luck choosing

The small CF Insingo was my first CRK. I've got a lg gabon ebony inlaid now and two more arriving this week. Can't compare to strider but the Sebenza is sweet.

Yea i got to agree, and for all i know the Sng could be the only knife i ever want! :p

Agreed. I try to never have 2 of anything. I'm not a big collector, more of a user, so having the same knife just with a different handle material isn't my thing. I'd rather try other things and have other knives for various purposes. While I love my CRK, I say try the SNG if you have the itch. You could always get a carbon scale for your existing if that's what you really want, then you can swap out.

Try a ffg sng, if you buy a user and don't like it you could sell it for little to no loss.

Also considet the sebenza 25! Another 21 seems a little redundant to me.

A tougher choice would be SnG or Umnumzaan.
I still don't know the answer to that one...I ended up getting both. :)

I think the CR Umnumzaan or the Wilson Combat StarTac would suit you. I myself just got a StarTac and I love it, I personally haven't owned or used a sebenza other than holding one in a store, but they seem to be one of if not the most popular high end folders I've ever come across. To me the StarTac has the look and feel of a combat oriented folder with the quality and cutting aspects of a Sebenza, could be wrong but that's my take.

One last question, how does the strength of the strider ti lockbar compare to a sebenzas (stiffness)?

I have both and notice little difference in stiffness. I do like the shorter, stouter laockbar on the SnG though. Mine is early-ish and smooth as glass.

I've always thought that Striders would be a cool $200 knife, and I love CRK, BUT you know what to expect with a Sebenza. You've never handled a Strider...could be the knife of your dreams, who knows. If you get the Seb you may find yourself still wanting to scratch that Strider itch. So I say get the Strider. Sell it if you don't like it, and get the Seb.

Strider folders were designed to be the "be all, end all, big bad-ass hard use folders". For a while there, they were. There are a LOT of folders that fall in that category - Grayman, direware, etc., so Strider folders have lost a little of their elite status. There are bigger and badder now.

They are 2 completely different knives that are both worthwhile for different reasons. Hmmm, how can I sum this up? Would you rather be James Bond or Rambo? LOL!

From what I've hear about Striders I personally don't think I'll be buying one. The next folder I'll get is probably a Grayman.
