Need some advice on sealing knfe guards

I have some production knives that have only a press fit, not a soldered joint. Is there a way to seal the guard/knife joint (without taking the knife apart) so that water, blood, etc. does not seep in and start to rust? Loctite #290 is a wicking threadlock...would that work?

I'm no expert but you could lay down a layer of J&B Weld. It's some pretty strong stuff.
 
I would recommend devcon as it will flow inside a little better, and be invisible.
