Need some advice on what type of leatherman to buy.

I have a full size swisstool and a LM wave. The swisstool is definately better quality, tougher, more rust resistant and all the tools open from the outside. But it weighs a ton. The wave has OH blades, is lighter and smaller (than the swisstool) but all the tools are the same length, the file is nicer and you can get a pocket clip. On the down side, it rusts very easily and it is not as solid as the swisstool. I use the swisstool for work and the woods and the wave for edc around the city (I prefer not having a sheath on my belt).

Love my Swisstool Spirit. I also have a number of LM's (Wave, PST, Supertool, etc) a SOG, and a a couple of others. Hands down the Spirit is my favorite. :)

when You figure it out PM me. I have a bunch here I need to get rid of.

I carry the Charge TTi everyday and use it for work.(Electrical contractor). I've used it everyday for a year now and hasn't failed me. The one-handed opening blade is the big advantage for me over the Vic Swisstool and Spirit. Plus, the tools lock 'solid' for me on the Leatherman.

The Vic Swisstool's blades and screwdrivers have a little 'play' after they are locked. Plus, I don't need a hundred different sizes of screwdrivers like the Swisstool has.

The Vic Spirit is a great, well made tool. But the knife blade is horrible. Nothing like the LEatherman blades. Plus, you can't carry it with a pocket clip like the Charge TTi.

I have all three and carry the Charge. The Swisstool and Spirit sit on my desk at home.

I am a part time service tech. I was given a LM PST II a long time ago. Used it a lot. I "misplaced it" and was lost without it. Bought another asap. I have a SA Huntsmam, and would not consider using it on the jobs the PST II
does. It is just too light weight. LM is the way to go, in my experience. YMMV

I lot of people are put off by the tipless serrated blade on the Spirit. Although not pleasant to look at, it works just fine. Even so, I ground off the serrations and beveled both sides of the edge quite easily, and I much prefer it this way as a plain edge. I just got this double slot Adirondack pocket sheath from KSF, and it holds my Spirit and Mini Canadian beautifully for a great edc or woods set.

I had a Surge briefly. I ended up trading it for an original VIc Swisstool. I later gave the Swisstool away to a fellow forumite in greater need of it than I, but I wouldn't mind getting the Swisstool X version at some point (not that I need it).

I used to carry an old SOG Paratool, then switched to an old Leatherman Wave but lately i EDC (pocket-carry) the Leatherman XE6.
The scissors and canopener on the XE6 are only "acceptable", but other than that i love the XE6.
Its a little thick but is the same length as a 91mm SAK which makes it fairly handy.
IMO the Wave and bigger multis are more suited for belt carry.

If the Vic Spirit with the plain edged blade becomes more available i will probably pick one up.
As a SAK collector I'm generally a big Victorinox fan anyway.
I'd love to get the Swisstool X as well, lol!
