I just purchased a WSKTS-KO, and a spyderco manix with S110V steel. Will the wskts be enough to sharpen this blade, or should I also purchase a strop?

How much sharpening experience do you have? Worksharps are great, but practice on something cheap and easy before jumping into something like s110v. I would get a paddle strop for touch ups. I've had a lot of sharpening systems and have ended up with a medium grit lansky stone that I like from an old set and a strop with grey compound on one side and white on the other. I also avoid super steels these days though and just touch the edges up quick once a week or so.

I would caution you to make sure you don't inadvertently grind the tip off. I'm not sure if the Ken Onion edition somehow makes that impossible, but I've read in some places that they don't, and that it's still possible to grind tips off by accident.

I'm rather new to sharpening, I have an old kershaw leek that I will practice with. I also have a couple stones that I have been using, but I bought the wskts mainly for the angle guide. Also, is a 15 degree angle suitable for my new manix?

The factory edge is probably fine, typically Spydercos end up around 16-20 per side. Remember that sharpening shortens the life of the knife, continual light touch ups are really all thats needed.

I haven't tried the WSKO with anything more 'super' than CPM-S30V. It worked very well and rather easily on that though. I'd expect S110V to take a good bit longer, but should work great. I freehand with the WSKO, which I think provides a lot more control.

Definitely practice on some other knives first. Old abused kitchen knives can be very instructive, though the more abused they are the longer they take. Good luck!

Brian.

I have a Native 5 in s110v and it's awesome steel. I'm not sure if you'll get all the burr off with your sharpener? So you may need to strop it to remove it? Most of us do. Try newspaper first, it wouldn't work on mine though. Even my Knives Plus won't. I had to use a Spyderco fine stone with cutting oil to finally do it. Then use cbn on leather to smooth it out.
You've got a very wear resistant, hard steel. It takes more work but it's totally worth it. Enjoy.
