need some advice

IMO you're right, the handle will break long before the tang will. Which is most of the reason I bought all but one of mine as a Chiruwa style. Plus, If I ever wanted or needed to, I could more easily replace that kind of handle with the skills I have.

Re: shipping time.
IMO, it's well worth it to order what you really want, and wait the 3 weeks to a month. I did that with my first. I ordered exactly what I wanted, and although I've ordered several more from deals of the day and such, that first one is still my favorite and sees the vast majority of the use I give mine.

That was basically my sentiment as well, i am very excited about my CAK I really wanted a Sirupati but i like the ease of a chiruwa and it's a very sturdy knife. In the end i had to pick one and i opted for the CAK.

If you still want a sirupate, I'm sure they'd make one with a Chiruwa style handle for you. Since everything's handmade, it's really no more trouble to make a slightly different handle, just a few week's wait time.

Of course, depending on what you want it for, it might not be as suitable. If it's for martial arts or something, it might change the balance too much.

I dont want to make them go through the hassle, i already ordered the CAK as well. I want it for my back packing, remote camping, and just because i like the style and culture behind it. If i do get my hands on some more cash; looking on the forums has mostly alieviated my fear of the rat tails, so i would probably opt for a hidden tang, i really like the 18 and 20 inch Sirupati.

check out the M43 from HI. Same price may be in stock. Mine has served me beautifully for a good while now. held up to much hard use. couldnt be happier with it.
