My buddy stopped by the house yesterday around 7pm. He had some beers, and we started on a few. he asked me what type of knife I would recommend for a new hunting knife. As I'm on a puukko kick, I advised him that Ragnars Forge or Kellam Knives, would be the ticket for him. I called Ragnar, and got a fax line modem. I then called Kellam, but I told him they were probably closed at that hour. They were in fact closed. Just then his cell phone rang and it was a 716 exchange, so that was Ragnar calling. Well you can guess the rest. He ordered a Rame puukko, by Ahti of Finland. $40 for a really beautiful puukko. They will deliver it to my house, because I live in a nice neighborhood, and he lives in a condo. Fedex always leaves packages at my home if nobody is there. I can't wait to see it, even though it is not mine.I guess I my have to get something too. Any good ideas for me?

I got this custom little beauty on the way(well....in January) by a maker in Finland. Also ordered a awesome fire kit he makes....I need to sell some stuff to pay for it lol.

Oh and I added a brass bolster

I am constantly changing my boxers in excitement.

I also really like my Wood Jewels if you are looking for something at ragnars

Oh boy, what beauty! Where do you get that? Ragnar reccomended wood jewel last year when I bought my Helle Jubileum knife. A Tapio Wirkkala designed puukko. I will probably reccomend those to my pal, as he wants another puukko.

The makers web site is http://www.puukkopekka.com/ . He is a full time farmer, so Knife making comes second.

Wood Jewels handles look kind of weird but they are incredibly comfy.

I don't know what it is about puukkos...but I love em.

I have seen that site, it is super. The puukkos made by that guy are a work of art. They are beyond nice. I don't see any prices on there, I'm sure he isn't giving them away. The wood jewel do look a little differant, but they do look very ergonomic.

Beautiful knife Darby.

Ragnar is awesome to deal with - I get my Mora's from him.

I too, am a big "puukko'' fan. They have ''The three S's'' Simple, Sharp, & Sexy. :D:thumbup:

Ya its not cheap. Especially at my young fellows hourly wage. At the current exchange rate I am paying right at $150. Not bad for such a beautiful custom blade.

I wish it was mine! though I don't have the money yet lol, good thing I have till the end of January. I am hoping it will be done after I get my tax return.

They are the definition of the Three S's

Hey! Patent pending - I grant you permission to use it though

Enjoy the wait. Its always better to wait on something when you want it really bad anyway. That way you appreciate it even more when you get it - and if you didn't REALLY want it in the first place - you will have saved your money.(Think Tattoos)

The wait is the most fun part sometimes lol

$150 for that knife. That is a very good value. Did you talk to the maker or e0mail him? I would like a puukko of that quality, for that kind of money. I feel you this is money well spent. How does he take payment, check, money order or another method? Also, is there a waiting time to get the puukko? My first thought was the knife might be in the $300-$350 range, like the Tommi puukkos are, from Kellam knives.
