Need some help deciding

I've taken care of many locust trees with the BK9. It will do the job, but I hate getting my sharp knife edge in the dirt. For cutting near the ground, an inexpensive machete may be a good idea. My machete inadvertently striking the ground doesn't bother me as much.

I love this shop, ordered the knife 17 hours ago (~2 in the morning) and it was just shipped. If DHL doesn't fuck up again, I'll have my 9 tomorrow. YAY!

The knife arrived just 20 minutes ago. First thing that caught my eye was the sticker that I thought said "probably made in the USA". Then I pulled the knife out of the box... the "knife". Call it "baby machete" and we can talk :D Crocodile Dundee comes to mind... "THIS is a knife". Extremely well made, heavy, but still perfect fit in my hand. The grivory scales really do their job. The sharpness is... well my arm is now shaved. I couldn't stop :D. The only thing that pisses me off: Where the f*ck am I meant to get the right hex key for the bolts? We don't have your crazy "358/761ths of an inch" stuff here :D

Congratulations on getting the BK-9!

maethor, if you have difficulty getting a hex key, shoot me a note, and I'll send one to Berlin.
The 9 is a great choice--my favorite Becker--and it'll make short work of those saplings.

I agree, however, if you had not gotten the 9, a good machete would have been the ticket.
Many of the South American brands are very reasonably priced and work as advertised.
Here in the States, you can get a very nice Tramontina for $6 US.

I just drug out all my machetes the other day and snapped a pic. Note the Becker on the right.

Wow, Guyon, thanks for the great pic and the very kind and generous offer, but I found 5/32" to be just a tiny little bit less than 4mm. A 4mm hex key will also fit the bolts. But of course it would be pretty hard to find some nylocking nuts here... I might just use good ol' LocTite.

Ethan, thank you so much for using this particular size of bolts... you're a genious, man.

take care y'all!

maethor
