Ok, got sort of an odd request here. I purchased, as sort of a novelty item in a way, an old gigand 'shockwave' designed by dr. fred carter.
Its an aluminum framed knife, with G10? scales, liner lock, and an AUS8 wharncliffe blade, bead blasted grey and cryo'ed. It had some odd metal spacers/washers in the blade, so that even when tightened down pretty good, the blade opening was SUPER smooth. Like REALLY smooth.
The lockup was very tight and positive. But heres the deal, while she was RAZOR sharp, and kind of a novel design, she really wasnt put together good. The little allen head screws in there, are now stripped, and I would need someone to disassemble this thing, put new screws in (preferably torx heads, made from a good steel) and re-tap (where required) any holes that may have damaged threads.
If I had the micro tools necessary for this, and a place to find some new mini screws at, this would take no more than 15 minutes to do. But since I havent the resources to effect this repair, I was wondering if there were anyone out there with the necessary tools, I could send this knife to, to do the work. Anyone?
The picture of the knife, is here. It's the top one.

i wrote gigand knives.. well see if the respond. I didnt know they were even around anymore.. Hopefully they can help me.

You can go to www.knifekits.com to inquire and purchase screws. The ones you need are metric, and they are all but unavailable over here in the US. You might buy the cheapest Asian kit from them or K-mart and swap screws out.

This knife is not that valuable, so spending much effort on it is not worthy. That said, I also have two Gigand knives both designed by Fred, and the quality is very good.

I actually really like my shockwave. it was DAM sharp when i got it, held an edge beautifully, and is still the smoothest opening knife I've ever owned. Not to mention super tight lockup. And Ive lost or sold more knives than alot of people ever had.
For just daily chores, this knife is the one for me. And one of my favorite features was, the fact that it doesnt have that stuipd detent on the liner/hole in the blade to keep it shut. It's soo smooth, it almost jumps out on its own when you touch the thumbstud. Im going to the hardware store today, to see if they have any screws to fit this.

Try this phone number Gigand USA 1-201-583-8968 . They are at 701 Penhorn Ave. Secaucus, N.J. 07094
