I need a little help. I have a patient that is a farrier. He brought me a dozen or so files. They are a little over 1 1/2 wide and 3/16" thick 14" long. They Bellotta files. There is a mark that says D-05 on them. Can anyone tell me what type of steel they are. I assume they are hardened already.
Do they need to be annealed first?
Then can I profile them, grind them, reharden and temper?
Any and all advice would be appreciated.
