Here is one I am working on, I started with the intentions of a full tang with scales, being that is all I have made so far. After screwing up the bottom of the tang I thought what if I just cut a dado in the handle material and inlet a partial tang in the top. I have a block of ebony that a furniture maker friend gave me, so I took a chunk of it along with a piece of deer antler and inlet them both.
Is this a valid way to put on a handle or am I wasting my time? The stag is a little loose fit but I hope pins should tighten it up.

Thanks for your help.
Sean

That's a very old style of tang, "partial tang" or "stub tang" a lot of the belt knives during fur trade periods were made like this..... I think... LRB could provide better info. But yes, it's doable, I've seen knives at the Alabama Archives building that were at least 150 years old with this style tang construction.
