I`m going to be getting rid of a lot of my knives in the near future, and need some help with the value of the Schrades. I have the following:

152 new no box, sheath has broken snap
108 new no box
33OT NIB
106OT NIB
18OT NIB
3OT NIB
194OT NIB
8OT NIB
807UH NIB
897UH NIB
705UH NIB
LB7 lightly used, no sheath, no box

Any help would really be appreciated.

Honestly, your best bet would be to do a search for completed auctions for the same models on ebay to get a comparison. Keep in mind that those values are a bit volatile, and up to who is looking for what at the time you are selling.

Stomper, unless it is a real emergency, I'd recommend that you hold off for a while on selling your Schrades. The market demand for them swings wildly in a year's time and right now the market is way down for the more modern production Schrade knives (1973-2004). In other words, it is a buyer's market for these, not a seller's market. I am selling some of my overstock right now, but I don't have the luxury of waiting for a price upswing. If I did, I'd watch the ended listings on eBay and try to mimic the best selling patterns at that time, in person-to-person sales if not on eBay.

Edit: Knives without sheaths are reduced in value. Sheath them if you can find them. If you have difficulty finding sheaths for the LB-7 and 152OT, contact me. I might be able to help you.

Sounds like good advice, thanks!

I have been buying and selling (more buying than selling) Schrade USA knives on Ebay for three years. I pay attention to going prices. For the most part, it has been folding knives, and have accumulated over 250 of them, and have probably sold 70 or 80. I have not spent nearly as much time on fixed blade knives. It appears to me that the price when you sell on Ebay depends on a few things:

1) How is the item listed in title?
2) How is the quality of the pictures?
3) How bad does more that one person want the knife?

While some patterns are hit or miss, the price going now for Schrades is good, and better than ever, on the average. USA Schrades are becoming more scarce. That being said, Ebay is unpredictable, both on the high and low side of pricing. I still pick up one every now and then at a silly low price for no apparent reason. I contend that well pictured examples, with a 7 day auction ending on Sunday, and start the bid at 99 cents, will bring the best price. Make sure to put Schrade USA in the title of the listing. A high starting price or a reserve is the kiss of death, for getting multiple people bidding on a knife. Listing more than one in an auction is not recommended either, unless they are used dogs. For the most part, I only deal with knives that are in excellent or as new condition, unless I want it as a user.

Hottest production items are the ones in brown boxes and the ones in plastic tubes (of course older than that being better is a no brainer). I agree with Codger the pre 1973 Schrades are highly sought after. I have noticed many new Schrade collectors get into it with Old Timers and Uncle Henry, only to realize that those great knives were only the tip of the iceburg. Then before they know it, they are in over their heads. I speak from experience.

I would also recommend if you are selling a large number, to only list 5 or 6 per week, to help develop a following. If you get someone who really likes your knives and trusts you, they may only be able to buy one or two at a time. If you have multiples of the same knife multiple times to sell, use the 2nd chance offer. It usually works if you sell the first one for a high price.
