Need Specific Ganzaa Procedure Information

From what I've heard, Jaxx is right. Early emails don't hurt you unless you sent it early and never sent another one. If you correct your mistake, your email sent after the Ganzaa go still counts in its usual order. Under this scenario, you could, technically, send an email every 15 seconds, but something tells me that Amy would stick you at the very back of the line herself, and maybe keep you there

But that has little to do with my 2 original questions. If you ask me, I'm gonna guess that Busse actually does not use the time on the email, but rather the order in their inbox. To those who say they are the same, consider that some computers (like mine) preserve the sender's time stamp, rather than apply a "received" time. But that's a guess.

As for my second question, it would be good to clear up before the next Ganzaa, and include in the detailed instructions to avoid confusion. If the auto go time has arrived, and you have not seen Jerry post because you can't refresh quickly enough, but the forum is open, is it a go? Is 9:55 a go no matter what, even if the forums are open? Or does Jerry have till 10pm to post?

We go by the time that WE recieve your e-mail and by the order of when I recieve them in my inbox...

As far as the 9:55 emergency back up plan...IF JERRY HAS NOT POSTED THE GO BUTTON BY 9:55 then the GO button would be 9:55 pm............... period.

Answer your questions for you:)

So does that mean I can prep 2-300 emails and just start sending them every 10-15 seconds at the start of the ganza witout following it on the forum?
It was my understanding that if you fired an early email it put you at the end of the line and basically took you out of the ganza.

Hmmmmm....

I think that would be a very BAD idea:)

So let it be written ... so let it be done. :)

I'd say that settles everything. But ... when it's your first time ... and you're really worried ........ ;)

And thats that!!!!!!

Timestamp of the RECEIVED side will automatically make it in order of receipt at Busse, yes?

Why would you use sender's time stamp? I could send mine 3 hours later but own my own ISP and futz with my time-log and assure being in the front of the line.

You've got to consider the variability of the Internets. Faster connections rule. Bigger ISP's rule. Closer to Wauxon-Wauxoff, OH rules.

Man I am glad I live in O-H-I-O :D Plus it doesn't matter until Amy-0 says so!

It settles question #2 for sure. Now we know that no matter what, 9:55 is a go, if you have not seen Jerry post before that for whatever reason. But I'm not sure question #1 has been definitively answered. Amy said that she sorts by the TIME they receive the email, AND, the order of emails in the inbox. Since my original question was whether they use timestamp OR inbox order, this doesn't exactly clear things up. IF her computer applies its own timestamp to incoming emails, then the timestamp and the order of emails should be the same. But that's a big IF. As I explained, a brief test of my own email inbox shows that timestamp does not correlate with inbox order.

So, I think we would need to know more about 1) How she combines the use of timestamp and inbox order, and 2) Run a test and see if her computer is applying its own timestamp to incoming emails, and/or if her inbox order also correlates to a steady forward progression of time in the timestamps.

I would recommend checking that (#2) not with the Ganzaa emails, but go back to a "normal" day that did not have so many emails coming in all at once, and see if timestamps over a run of emails are consistent with their inbox order. It helps to find emails that were sent close to each other in time, rather than further apart. Sometimes a difference of a minute or two, or heck, even a few seconds in a Ganzaa, can make a difference.

If it were me, I would use only inbox order and NOT timestamp at all. Inbox order is definitely a record of which emails got there first. I don't think the same can be said for timestamp, unless one is SURE that the timestamp is applied correctly by your own computer for each incoming email (not the case with my system, haven't tested others).

Balislinger, I think you're thinking too much.

This is the Busse forum, and you're a stomped Hog now. Less thinkin', more drinkin'!!

:D:thumbup:

George,
I assure you that it is in order of who got their e-mail to us first...I think you should let me worry about sorting thru the Ganza'a I have done TONS of Ganza's and have not have any complaints:)...You are making feel like I do not know how to my job...:o

I think this is your first ganza and I know that you are excited :):)
Just relax have a drink and wait till next week when I will send out the e-mails....

If you ask some of the older HOGS some of the ganza's that we had awhile ago it would take 2-3 weeks before a e-mail was sent and that is when "2 weeks" was actually 2 months:)

Brother, I think you have heard the words of wisdom from Amy-O herself.

There are things to be retentive about (like INFI) but trust and let Amy do her job. ;)

Werd. We trust you to do it right, as you've done many a time. New people have valid questions maybe but you just gotta let go of the wheel and trust the busload of hangovers :D After that, you realize everything shakes out how it should.

OK, nuff said. It's not my first Ganzaa, and I'm not freaking out because of how cool this knife is, I think I had the same questions at the last Ganzaa. It's part of my nature to think these things through at that level of detail, trying to develop the optimum strategy I suppose. But I TOTALLY trust Amy and I KNOW you are AWESOME at your job, so it was not intended in that way. (Sorry for making you feel anything along those lines!). A good post by Guyon on another thread said it best: Too much lawyering takes precious mental energy needed for choosing whisky bottles! OK, he didn't say that, but he was right anyways. Thanks Amy! Gotta love a company that actually communicates with its fanbase. Benchmade, take notes.

oh! trying to suck up to amy and get moved to second place eh? well it won't work, i warned her about hogs like you.
