Need steel advice, s35vn or s110v?

Looks like s35vn is the way to go. I prefer the brown g10 of that model anyway. Thanks for all the replies and great advice.

Midnight flyer, did the s110v chip from cutting the cardboard itself or did you hit a staple or something? I would think any blade steel should hold up against cardboard without chipping.

It chipped when cutting some tough cardboard, the kind of stuff large appliances come in. No staples! No small rocks, metal or other embedded debris in the cardboard, either. To be truthful, I had babied the knife quite a bit up to that point and wanted to give is something really useful to do, something that I thought wouldn't strain it at all. I was cutting up the cardboard to give the knive and its steel my own personal test of edge retention. If I thought it would have hit a staple I would have gone to the truck to get a "utility knife" or box cutter. I paid too much for he knife to be sloppy with its use, but was really surprised at the small chip. I noticed when touching up the edge.

The chip isn't huge. It is about 1/2 the size of a small pin head, but under magnification you can see it was a clean break all the way around.
