Need suggestions on what to do with unwanted knife

Use it to barter for something else on craigs list. :) There are always idiots out there that will trade for almost anything.
 
Lots of good ideas here. Some clinkers, too. I second the vote for use in the garden. The serrations are great for cutting fibrous vegetation like vines, palm fronds, etc. Think of it like a stubby machete.
 
Along the lines of the gardening idea if you know anybody who metal detects they would probably want it for cutting plugs out.
 
Go to a pawn shop, haggle them up a couple bucks, and go across the street to McDonalds and get yourself a meal. I've gone to pawn shops looking for knives, and this is the kind of crap I've seen there.

I laughed at this, it's actually an interesting idea. My mind briefly conjured up the image of Rick Harrison from Pawn Stars telling me "Best I can do is $5, I gotta make a profit too.".
