Gentlemen,

Please educate me on Busse's crinkle coatings. I just received a GM with a black crinkle coating, that while it has a texture it is more plastic in the way it feels. I also just recieved a SJ TAC in a tan desert where the applied texture feels like sand paper.

So, why the difference?

Thanks.

Chris

Hello Chris,
Welcome to the Busse Forum, I'm glad that you stopped by. I'm not exactly sure I understand what you are asking. The Black Crinkle Coat and the Desert Coating are just different coatings. They both are very durable, but really are different. The black finish holds up well during use, it will wear off in phases, it will smooth out first and then begin to wear off. The desert finish will wear also but seems to be slightly more durable than the black finish. Both (all of the Busse finishes) are some of the most durable finishes I have encountered in the knife industry.

I hope that helps and please let me know if I didn't answer your question

:D:D

Eric,

Thanks for the reply. The GM has the black crinkle coating that feels like a spay in bedliner that goes in truck beds. The SJ TAC's coating literally feels like paint with sand in it.

Hello Chris
Yes, I understood this from your previous post, this is how the coatings are. Do you have a question in regards to this statement or is this just a statemenet.

The tan is actually the same material used to coat our military fighting vehicles.

Very abrasion resistant.

The black is polymer coating that is cured out. I will try and get a pic of a Meaner Street that has all phases of the black coating wear patterns, from original, to starting to wear, to heavy wear, then to bare metal.

It's bootiful....

The Desert coating is very agressive. I still have Ford F-350 embedded in my BM-DE coating left over from Taji. I don't remember seeing anything tan embedded in the F-350...
I'll 2nd the opinion that the Busse coating's are 2nd to none. I think there's actually a theme there. The Wauseon Tendency, as it were.
