So I've got a customer who wants the handle holes filled with glow in the dark compound so that a light show is given while flipping. I was thinking of buying some GITD powder and mixing it with 12 hour 2 part epoxy. I'd lay down some tape as a backing and fill the holes on one side and flip it over the next day and repeat. If anybody has a better way, I'm all ears.

I have some of the powder and I bought a foot of the plastic handle material (intending to use it for inlays eventually). I haven't used it yet, but I can say when charged with my 3000 lumen flashlight it glows 12+ hours, pretty cool stuff. It glows faintly even longer. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

I'm buying some gun blueing today. The handles are 1084 and should blue up nicely. The contrast will be sweet.

Depends on how deep I can get the blue. Orange or standard green would look cool.

Are the fiber optic rods that are used in the front sights of guns available in different diameters? Could short sections of these rods be installed in the holes? Just an idea, take it for what it's woth.

Or LEDs and a battery :D Or better yet a generator powered by flipping the balisong! I probably just made you a millionaire. You can thank me later! Just kidding, both are impractical but not necessarily impossible.

I suggest that you look into using Tritium tubes. They can be purchased in the For Sale section of www.candlepowerforums.com.

You can buy them in different colors and they will emit illuminiscent light for up to 10 years.

Get a bottle of Next Gen GID powder in Neon Green or Neon Blue ( the highest output colors).
Mix clear, slow cure epoxy, and then add powder to a putty consistency. Pack into the holes. Turning regularly, press the putty in from both sides with gloved hands until it sets ( about a half hour). Let cure and then sand off the excess and clean the handles up. Any voids or large bubbles that show up can be filled with epoxy.
This should glow brightly for hours.
