Help me out, guys. I'm thinking about buying a good everyday knife. I'm lookin' at either a Spyderco Delica 4 or Medium ColdSteel Voyager-need your inputs.

They will both be good knives.
The Delica has four clip mounting positions, nested steel liners, and there are more variations available that might suit your taste (waved and ZDP-189 versions).
The Voyager will be thicker, a little more comfortable for certain tasks.

I would get whichever feels best in your hand, but if you cant try them out then the Delica is more likely to fit your needs with all the extra options.

Delica every time!

Don't think you'll be disappointed with a Delica, especially the latest version, but if you are you should have no trouble getting rid of it.....

Spyderco Delica, lots of options, good blade steel, thin for carry, built to last.

I have a CS medium Voyager, tanto, CE, and about 8 Delica 3s & 4s. The Delica is a more useful knife to me because it's a better fit for my hand and is a better balanced knife IMAO. I also like the Delica's blade shape and steel better for the cutting tasks I do with them. VG10 sharpens up easily, gets very sharp, and holds it's edge for a good while.

I keep the Voyager (sharp and clean) in my dogs' First Aid kit. It works well as a light duty cutter in that role.

BTW, the oldest functioning folder that I have is a CS 2.5" San Mai clip point lockback from the mid-late 80s (IIRC). It's still sharp, locks up as tight as ever, has no blade play, and works as well as it ever did. I wish I knew the model name, but I forgot it as soon as I bought the knife.

Spyderco Delica.

You have a lot more variety too. Different steel choices, handle colors, edge type, and soon either FRN or G10 handle scales.

I have owned plenty of Voyagers of all sizes, as well as several Delicas and Enduras. The Voyagers are good knives, and a bit cheaper. IMHO the Voyager has a slight advantage in lock strength, although both are stronger than you will need. The Delica is as small as I can go in a knife, while the Medium Voyager is just too small to be useful as far as the handle and thumb stud go. I've always been a huge fan of Cold Steel, but I would pick the Spyderco Delica and Endura over the Voyager line every time. The only exception would be if you wanted a really strong tip, then I would get a Large Voyager Tanto.

For Cold Steel at great prices -

I buy all my Spyderco knives from Randy at www.savsonswordsandknives.com

Good luck,

buy both, figure out which one you like, then sell or trade the other one

Oh, the slippery slope. That bright idea occurred to me several years ago because there is little opportunity in my locale for hands on knife comparisons. Usually, I wound up liking both, so after several such purchases for "evaluation," I now have a "collection" of more stuff than I really need. If you have more discipline than I, go for it, or be prepared for an expensive collecting hobby.

BTW, the Delica is hands down my favorite folder. If I ever get serious about trimming down, that's my keeper.

Well I'll be the first to disagree with the majority here. I think the CS Voyager line is probably the biggest bang for the buck you can find. Especially on ebay. You can pick them up pretty cheap. Everyone will tout which steel is better but for strictly edc stuff I just don't think you can beat a Voyager. You can get them in different sizes too which is nice. The lock strength on both will be very good but I would think the nod would go to the Voyager in that regard. I also think the Voyager will be a bit easier to sharpen. Both carry well but I think cut ability wise the Voyager is ground thinner and you can get them in different blade configurations. Anyways food for thought and you will not loose with either. keepem sharp

The delica is the obvious choice. The downside is that it will the first of many Delicas and the disapearance of a lot of money!:D
