Need your help for a design of a scabbard for a Egyptian Kopesh sword. How would you design it? Could you help me?

There is a great photo in Swords and Hilt Weapons, ISBN 1-55584-290-9, of a 5th century BC Vase with a painting of a warrior wielding an early kopis. The warrior wears a well detailed scabbard on his hip. This book is very common and the photo appears on page 22.

I spare you the suspense. The sheath looks like a khukuri sheath, but:
1) It does not have a pouch for tinder and auxiliary tools
2) It has a heavy metal thoat to accommodate and seat the hand guard
