Recommendation? Needing advice

Try some matte black auto touch up paint, I have an old black Corolla and used the touch up to paint a clip one time and it still looks good a couple of years later. It may not quite match at first but wear might make it sort of blend in over time.

The black Sharpie will also work, I used one a some blade scratches on my 0300 and it is still there.

I could not see your pic but would use the Sharpie if the engraving was pretty small but the touch up paint if it was larger than a pen would cover.

Can you have them replace the blade? That way it would be the same Leatherman, just new blade sans engraving?

I’ve used a vibrating engraver to texture out an unwanted company name on a handle. It really turned out nice and did both sides. I did have to lightly sand a few spots that were a bit to rough and then a dermal wire brush. Made it slip resistant. You can also use some duracoat and bake it on, they have a lot of color to pick from.

I like how someone said make a decorative feature on that part, I say with etching little circles over it, like I have seen on some blades. If not, throw it into a bag you save in your car for emergencies, and if you break it, oh well. Get a new one to carry while that stays in the BOB bag. Can you strip the whole thing by soaking it in stripper fluid? Then when you etch it out, the whole thing is silver.

The link to pic didn't work.

Is the engraving on the blade or handle?

If on the handle, you could try a grip tape.

Don't do anything. You'll regret it. Put it in a drawer. Buy yourself a new one to use. And, get back to me in about 10 years to say thanks boyo.

The gal gave you a very practical gift. Plus, from the engraving, it shows she cares about you and your welfare. Work through your emotional baggage and then enjoy the gift.

I wish I still had some of the gifts given to me by ex-girlfriends and my two ex-wives. Like I said before, there will be a time that the engraving won't be a big deal. With a little time, it might even bring a smile to your face.
