Neighbours..Every body needs good naaayyboours!

Lyle-who said anything about catching. When I go fishing the fish get fed. Most of our catch was undersized so got thrown back . A couple of Black Bream or Tarwhine were simple scaled ,gutted and (i hate to say it) thrown on the barby. Very tasty and fresh. Now for the Flathead-the Rolls Royce of the fish world IMO. I hooked three got em right up and each one (or maybe it was the same one) bit off the line ,bait and hook.
Fes -I can't believe you published a pic of Spot X on the net. Great work with the bird-its tragic that so many "sportsmen and women" leave discarded line and rubbish in these areas.
Charlie-Hoots toots och aye.

Meako.....Thanks for the history lesson...I will buy the barman a beer as you suggest. Hes an ex Tasmaniac who unashamedly admits hes in NZ cos hes running for the Law..I like him!!!...........I too was on the briny yesterday at dawn...All i got was sunburnt and a stingray....i did however save an (egret?) that was caught in fishing line..Yes Duncan i set it FREE!..I did not skin and eat it...............FES

Good Man Fes, nice pictures mate, both yours and Meakos pics gives a man the thirst to get out the fishing rods!

All please take note. I have accused my fellow country men and women of ignorance when I am as guilty as they are for what I can only call boneheaded stupidity. I have made a terrible faux pas.
Australia day commemorates the 26 Jan 1788 the arrival of the first fleet at Port Jackson (Sydney Harbour) and the first European settlement being established in the colony.
The one I mentioned earlier is Federation Day.How embarrassment.
cheers.

I enjoy all these posts from our friends on the other side of my world, good people are throughout this world.

I have vivid memories of me , Daddy, and my Uncle Frank fishing when I was 3 or 4 years old.

Catching bait was as much fun as fishing back then. It's a great thing to take young children fishing and hunting. Daddy gave me my first pocket knife at about age 5 while fishing. It was a type of fishing or toothpick pattern with black composition handles ,made by Ulster or a like company. An older boy at the pay lake talked me into just giving it to him that day! Oh, just to have that innocence now.

Next one was, guess what Charlie, a barlow by one of the same companies in brown composition. I held on to that one a while.

More gratuitous knife content :)
