Nekkid M6 before and after

Mercmaster how did you polish your blade ?

Stripped it with Klean Strip premium stripper (took about 5 minutes).

Then polished it with 3 different grits of jeweler's rouge on a polisher at work (I'm fortunate enough to have access to a polisher - we use the rouge and polishing wheel to polish out some of our high end parts for speedboats at work). Then the final buffing was done with Mother's Mag & Aluminum polish and elbow grease.

The M6 had some HORRENDOUS grind marks under the coating around the spine, similiar to the grind marks that I think I can see around your rat near the choil TBAUGH7. The grind marks took alot of work with the coarse grit rouge to get most of it out.

I must say, I like the look of naked rats!!!

Now... if I could only get that SFNO from Dunner. Good luck, right? :o

You know, if you distract him by asking about it, that'll free me up to get some of his other blades. :D

Ed, as a Res-C fan I haven't been all that stoked abouth the new offerings. That M6 is dead friggin' sexy! You might have turned the tides with those pics.

What do you do to get the rubber handle off the Howling Rat? Can you drive it out and then replace it?

The res C handle would have to be put back on at the shop, or if you've got access to the tube rivets and a 10K lb shop press.

Most of the Rats who strip their Res C blades will leave the handle on. If you do this, just be careful. The pics posted by Dick where he has removed the Res C handle are custom jobs where he is replacing the handles with his own wood and ivory creations.

mrrrtn, how did you define that line between your polished grind and the dimpled flat? You must use something tougher than painters tape, or are you just verrrrry precise? That is some real nice work btw.
