Neo-tribal Heavy Chopper
Full disclosure...This is a leaf spring chopper. Assumed to be 5160, because I pulled it off a 1964 Chevy truck. I've made a hand full of knives from this batch of leaf springs and the steel preforms like 5160. All that being said, I can not swear that this is 5160. I like to use leaf spring for Neo-tribals because it makes me feel kind of Mad Maxx-ish. Just trying to be honest and up front.
- Leaf spring was annealed, hammered straight, stress relieved/normalized, shaped and ground.
- I then normalized and heat treated and tempered to 56-58 Rc.
- Knife is 15 1/2" OAL. 10" blade w/ a 5 1/2" handle.
- Blade is 2" tall and tappers from 3/8" at the ricasso about 3/16" towards the tip.
- Blade has an antiqued patina. Flats are left rough.
- Handle is hemp wrap over leather. Sealed with shellac. Very comfortable.
- Comes with 10 oz. leather shoulder carry rig w/ option of belt carry.
Welcome in the Apocalypse with this bad boy.
