Been watching these latest developments with interest. The problem with Nepal politics has always been a "me first, country and people second" on the part of greedy and corrupt politicians and the people are sick of it. I hear from the backyard that most of the common folks are ready for the king to take command and try to get things straighted out and back on course.
That's what I've been reading too - that a number of the common people are pleased with the King assuming temporary power....and that none of the political parties are happy - one knows that there must be something good in a move if _none_ of the political parties likes it
I agree, but the trick is getting a truly belevolent monarchy. I mean the last prince went on a shooting spree in the palace, didn't he? And I read that the Us $$$ go straight to the royals bank accounts...
..I claim no expertise in this area of discussion...correct me if I err.
As far as the monarchy is concerned, it will probably get things done. May not be truly benevolent, but may be quite a bit better than the partie system. My prayers are for the people. Hope it works out for their benefit.
