The British Govt wants to save money. Gurkhas are not British; they serve the British. Left over attitude from Imperialism? Probably. When a nation is poor, it's easy to justify whatever contract you make with its citizen's as being better than what they would have had otherwise. Human nature.

Still, you'd think for immigration, forget retirement monies, there would be no better future British subject than a retired Gurkha. I mean, come on; what other standard comes close to this?
