Khukuris from the clouds is good news and thanks, Rusty.

Off topic here but did you ever know anybody named Rhodes who was not nicknamed "Dusty?"

Matter of fact, I don't remember ever meeting anyone face to face named Rhodes ( any spelling ).

WooHoo! CNN.Com (not that Asian edition) has the story too, with a real good in-depth report as a side-bar. It is about time US journalism media take notice!

Any time the Maoists want to talk instead of fight we know they are in trouble and need time to regroup. They are saying now they want to talk which I take as a good sign. Answer they are getting is "turn in your weapons and we'll talk." Another good sign.

...printed a government statement to the effect that there were "No 'UNECESSARY' Foreign Troops on Nepali Soil". Wanna bet that some "NECESSARY" ones are helping plan operations, and introducing the Nepali army to our full-house version of "tactical envlopment"? Those Gyrenes may be too busy to come by BirGorkha for their blades :)

When I saw the khukuris coming down from the clouds I figured "we're there." Very good and positive news for a change.

Liked the one official who said they wouldn't negotiate "...with the disciples of Pol Pot!"

Is it OK to say; 'better dead than Red" at this juncture, or should I wait a little longer?

munk

Probably, my mother tongue places words and adjectives differently. It was never meant ot upset anybody, that is for sure. :)

I probably should not try this kind of humor, as I miss the implications of what I say.

So do I. I'm not ready to try to mediate this one if it goes in the wrong direction. Sing is working in a second language and remember my story of the Nepali fry bread!!!!

Well the intended joke was that an american indian would certainly talk about a communist red. I found the parallel with the "classical" western movie sentence amusing. I can't see any offense, and if there is one it is totally unintended. in that case, be insured of my sincere excuses.

I'll just shut up now. Sometimes languages struggles are just not worth it.

Walosi:
Edit> fact is understanding of foreign languages gets lower as night passes. :)

...to the language for double and triple entendre humor. To us NDNs, red is better than dead (sometimes not much) but if you ae red, you better not be caught dead around a bunch of right-wing Tsa La Gis. I was laughing with you, not at you.....fry bread spoken here, too:D

Too recent and too late :) Trying hard to pick up. Still hermetic to lots of jokes. I leave you, I need to vote against the racists here later today.

Stick around, Sing - the lunatics around here will get you straightened out...or ruin you completely. Either way, we guarantee a fun trip.
