Nephews christmas present knife?

You couldn't go wrong with a Spyderco Delica. It's a little bit over the $50 limit but the nice steel (VG10) and ergonomics are worth it. If you want to be a really "cool" uncle, then try and pick your nephew up a Waved Delica. The wave feature allows the user to draw and deploy the knife from the pocket very quickly.

+1  for a waved delica

I know i would love to get one of those as a gift. I think he would really like it:D

And the winner is........Kershaw Junkyard Dog plain edge. Shipped to my door for $46.00.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I'm sure he will thoroughly enjoy the knife.
Good choice! I like the JYD2 better, but the mini is a great knife on it's own.

Great choice. The JYD is a great design. I have a composite version and a SG1 version. Their smaller brother I'm sure would make a great EDC (got get myself one of those) because the ones I have are borderline too big for EDC.

JYD is a great choice, now for his birthday he need a slippie. I understand he would probably scoff at it but he will really come to enjoy it as he grows up. I know that the slippies I received as a kid are my most valued knives especially the ones my grandfather gave me. He was the knife nut of the family. Collected Case for many years and I hope to be the owner of them when my grandmother decided to get them out of the house. I'm going to need a bigger safe, but oh well. Trust me slippie should be next.

+1 on the Zing - there is definitely a coolness factor there that a 16 year old will appreciate. Composite leek blems are only $38, very cool also, not sure why the call them blems - some I have look perfect....

Should have mentioned - If he has the bug then sharpening supplies should be on the horizon so he can learn the skills to maintain them.

I'm throwing in a benchmade blue box. Again, thanks for all the suggestions.
