Hello dear friends,

Let's try a NEW setup that will most probably be available with all 'detachable scales blades' - this time the 'Nessmuk'

The blade is made using D2 tool steel - the choice was made in order to best fit all aspects related to edge retention, toughness, corrosion resistance and all together for an affordable price for the customer to get the most for the buck!

The combination of 0.16" stock and the full flat grind with the fluid Nessmuk design makes this knife an impressive tool for any outdoor task. Fittings are solid brass and blackened precision made steel screws.

The NEW setup involves two pairs of scales that perfecty fit the blade so you can change as you like; the changing of scales takes only 1 minute and involves only a hex key (included with the knife) and unscrewing/screwing 2 screws. This way you have two knives for the price of one - how does that sound? :)

- on request we can add as many other pairs of scales as you wish for a very reasonable price (also based on the composition you decide for);

1. natural linen micarta + stabilized 'emerald' maple burl (bolster pocket is milled for added strength)
2. natural linen micarta + A grade honey locust burl (bolster pocket is milled for added strength)

I guarantee that this is the best quality for the buck you can get.

OAL 8.66", blade 4.13" long

The price is only 145 usd 130 (blade+fittings+2 pair of scales - micarta/honey locust burl& micarta/stab maple burl+shipping all included)

GIFT included - EDC coin.

All the best, God bless,
Bogdan

Hello dear brothers,

With God's good will and after 3 full days of work, i managed to finish this Shirasaya tanto.

Although the knife is not meant to be a history lesson, it keeps all features of the traditional Shirasaya tanto and is a pleasure to both watch and use.
The blade is made using 0.14" UHB20C high carbon steel (the cleaner version of 1095), it was clay hardened and hand polished for a spectacular hamon - a very difficult and time consuming process (ask mi finger tips :)).
The habaki is made out of copper (antiqued) and in itself was a real nerves eater to proper fit and finish but in the end i am very happy with the result.
For both the tsuka and the saya i used dried plum wood heart - the local ironwood - a very dense wood, with intricate grain and gorgeous colors. It was super difficult to carve it to precision.
The mekugi is made of steel; the knife can be very easily disassembled/assembled.
I do not pretend the knife is perfect by any means yet it is very well made, it looks gorgeous, feels excellent in hand and is super sharp.

OAL 8.9", blade 4.15", oal with saya 9.65"

The price for it is 250 usd.

All the best, God bless,
Bogdan
