I was reading Sears book recently. His Nessmuk trio is fascinating.

Does anyone use a double-bit axe? Is there a smaller double bit axe made?

How is the Nessmuk designed to be used?

Thanks,
Lester

Reeves makes one!

I've been waiting forever for a custom one I ordered from an independent maker....

Are his small enough to really be a Nessie axe? I thought they were the size of standard Fiskars/Gransfors hatchets.

Ask Hollowdweller, he owns one. (He'll say yes)

I have two lee reeves in osage orange handles and live them i think goerge would have liked these that are made from lee reeves. they are light in the hand and bite deep into
wood and work great.
hope this helps ya.

There's a picture somewhere from the Kephardt library that has a line drawing of Nessmuk's hatchet and the dimensions, and Reeves is very close. The only thing is Nessmuk's Hatchet was just shy of 12" oal and Reeves makes his 14.

I had him make mine 12" OAL. I love it.
