In the late 1800's George Washington Sears (AKA Nessmuk) popularized this syle of hunting and camping knife. I suspect that he refashioned a green river skinner which was popular at that time into something that was made popular because he was one of the first outdoor writers who promoted hunting and camping as a recreational pastime.

Forged from 52100 high carbon steel
Heat treated to Rc 58-60 with attention to a fine grain structure throughout the blade
Flat grind finished with a 400 grit belt followed with a cork belt
Spalted and figured hard maple stabilized and lightly dyed to bring out the figure
Overall length: 10 inches
Blade: 5 1/4 inches
Leather scabbard with a belt loop for a right hand carry
