Never had a Benchmade-Lets Change that!

If you can get 2, it may help to know that a LOT of knife nuts here favor both the Ritter Grips and the 710s.

Well, just look at the "classic" models.

The 710 is a very good EDC for its size (if you have issues there).

Smaller, the 707 (I lump it in with the older 705, though a better blade shape IMO) or Mini-Grip (I like the Ritter version, though there are enough blade shape options you should be able to find one that "hits" the buyable button).

They are "classic" for a reason - they serve well in a variety of uses.

hmmm. I am leaning towards the 420 snoddy. The griptillians are nice too. Then there is that 710. geez. I get away with this by buying one at a time! Three might set off the wife alarm!

Well if you like the look of the 420 then you should get it, you won't be disappointed. Of the four Axis models I own (a 420 , a 710, a Grip and an Ares) the 420 is the most unique. But I am partial to Snody designs because I like my Gravitator too ( but it's not an Axis).

The 710 is a great knife and also a solid performer, but it's the kind of knife you buy if you can only own one knife ( it's that good). The 420 is a capable working knife but also a work of art and extremely well made. I was carrying my 420 last night and I'm still impressed with the design and the quality of materials used in it's construction. You should try one because it is a little thicker than the typical BM, it's fine for me and I don't have very large hands.

Regardless of which one you pick you'll be happy. I went through this process earlier in the year, I wanted the 420 but I bought a 710 as my first BM because it was more practical..... I like the 710 but I still bought the 420 a month or so later.

yea. I see your logic. I do like the 420. it just reaches me somehow. I also think the 710 seems like a solid buy. I am seriously thinking about both of these two. then next, I ...... !

Blades are very sharp and addicting too!

The 710 is a very good knife and I don't want to down play that.... But the 420 is nothing to sneeze at either in the "built like a tank" category...

The reason I advised you to get the 420, is because most either really like it or hate it. I really like the style and think it's a bit different than everything else out there.

The one BM that I keep in my collection just for the sake of having a BM,
is the axis lock and reverse tanto blade Osborne 942.

I like the 942 shape also. I plan to go to the local knifeshop tomorrow to peruse and fondle. the 420, 710, and 942 will be looked at.

Thanks all. I will let you know what I get
