Never (hardly) carried

I never carry this Spyderco Lil Native because the blade bounces off my fingernail when I close it, and this annoys me greatly. I consider it a serious design flaw. My dealer offered a refund, but I kept the knife because I really wanted to try S90V and I was not finding much else available in that steel. Now the Lil Native lives on my desk, where I (too) hastily brushed the crumbs off my Knafs mat to take the photo. I don't have to close the blade, and it has turned into the 2nd most used knife I have. It is excellent for opening mail, absurdly well-taped Ebay parcels, and recalcitrant clamshell packages (for which it has largely replaced the vise and 60V DeWalt reciprocating saw).

What look like stripes on the blade are Moiré patterns caused by the not-very-clever resizing algorithm that my phone uses.

Back on topic, I usually don’t carry blades that I can’t discreetly stow on my person. Anything past 4“ to 5” of blade gets tricky, for fixed blades at least.

Tatanka & Autonomy 2.
I’ve carried both of them for a week, and can’t see either becoming daily carry for me.
I feel the Autonomy 2 carries too thick in the pocket for its size.
The Tatanka would be perfect IMO if they would drop the finger choil and lose and inch or more from the handle.
As they stand neither will get much more pocket time if any.

Hey there good sir, do you think you would be willing to sell the tatanka? Had mine stolen and been trying to find a replace all year.

I have quite a number of older ones that never see pocket time anymore mostly because I've simply moved on as my personal tastes developed. But if there's any knife that particularly stands out as never or hardly carried it's my Hinderer XM-18 slicer grind. I've had it for nearly three years and can probably count the number of times I've carried it on one hand. I don't think it's even seen enough use to have ever needed sharpened. If it was a wharncliffe I'm sure that would be much different but as it currently stands there's nothing I need a bellied blade that thick for that one of my Sebenzas or Spydercos can't cut better and without the awkward flipper tab.

DangerZone98,

From first hand experience, there is a whole lot of performance that can be had via reprofiling a 1077 Camp-10 along with handle modifications.
I made 4 videos, for self documentation related to testing comparisons, on progressive reprofiling and testing of a 1077 Camp-10, with direct comparisons to to my previously reprofiled 1079 Outcast (predecessor to the Camp-10).
Link below to the first of four videos on pulling extra performance from that blade (last link is reprofile of Outcast that was done before acquiring the Camp-10)

Kershaw 1077 Camp-10 reprofile (the 1st reprofile)

Kershaw Camp-10 & Outcast Chopping

Kershaw 1077 Camp-10 Reprofile #2

Kershaw 1079 Outcast Reprofile

Hopefully something helpful or at least enjoyable on the subject of increasing performance of a killer value blade.

Interested indeed! Thanks. I don’t use the Camp 10 a lot, but I like the blade shape and balance.
