I hade a pakistani replica of a 110 growing up. I beat the hell outta that thing. I have gotten away from the tactical CRAP that seems to flood the mags and started carrying a case trapper slippie. It is great in a dress uniform because it's small, but for WORK i needed something a little bit heftier. So being a fan of clip points and bowies I decided to try out a 110. It is not fancy, Its the run of the mill 110. The fit and finish are superb -period and for what I paid for it I feel as though I got my money's worth. I can use and abuse it- admiring the way it looks and not be upset about it should anything ever happen to it because I can afford another. From what others tell me though they tend to last VERY VERY LONG.

Congrats!

I'm a bit like you, got my first 110 recently at age 38. It just feels right and doesn't have all the baggage of some of the tactical stuff out there.

Congrats and Welcome to the Club.

some one will try to answer..
we are a tad easy going here...

spend some time reading and feel free to chip in any time!

Thank you to all. Hey 555 how's it going? As I understand it... 420 hc is OK for steel as long as the heat treat and temper are good? -which i guess BUCK has it down pat? where as any 'good' steel such as 5160 and 1095 are good but if not properly heat treated and tempered could perform miserably?

You don't have to worry about Bucks' 420HC its good stuff ;) AND it won't rust like 1095... etc....

I'll chime in with a "me too". Just had my first 110 delivered 2 hours ago. It's a great knife.

i got my first 110 today. sad to say it has a flaw, when i close the blade it jumps back up and the tip is ever so slightly exposed. i think it was a fluke and am positive that when i take it back for exchange tomorrow everything will be peachy. other than that i love the knife, it came super sharp.

Just file the kick down a little. Only a little, otherwise the blade will bottom out and you'll get a flat spot on the edge.

I bought my first 110 about 2 weeks ago. i was going to mailorder it (much cheaper) but instead i bought one on impulse at walmart.
I paid about 15-20$ more but i had the clerk show me all their 110s so i could paw them and pick out the one with the tightest lockup.
Now i want a 112FG as well. I will have to mailoder that one as i can't get it locally.

And i've been eyeing the custom shop 110s as well.
I wish Buck would offer 112's in their custom shop.

Congrats Corpsman (and everyone else!) on your first 110.

We here in the forum kinda like them.... ;) :D :D

Watch Out !.............." Buck Fever".........................................

sorry for the late reply, but what is the kick? I'm thinking the area of the backspring, near the blade pivot.

The kick is the flat area of steel between the edge and the pivot of the blade. It's the thing the blade rests on when it's folded and it holds the blade's edge off the bottom liner so it doesn't get dulled every time you close the knife. If you file it down the blade will sit deeper in the grip, just do it a little at a time and keep ckecking. You want the blades tip to be within the grip instead of sticking up about it and snagging on things, but you don't want the blade to bottom out and dull the edge.

I'm thinking that before you go filing on it, spray it out really good with WD40 while working the blade. May take a few times. Blow it out with an air compressor and them a hot soapy water cleaning and a drop of light oil in the right places.

Sometimes there is goop in them that didn't all get cleaned out.

If that doesn't work... Take it back. They might not want to exchange it if it has been filed on. But at least you know that it can be sent back to Buck for repairs.
