New 119 full flap sheath?

I took a big spill in the mountains while deer hunting on some rocks. Snoopy sheath on my 102 got pretty dinged up, but never unsnapped. The position of the snap seems genius to me. Even with a pack and gun hitting up against the sheath for hours, it has stayed fastened.

I like the flap-over for the protection it gives the knife in situations like yours, Takoma. Was there damage to the knife also? Preston

Just wanted to add, I fully credit the flap sheath to protecting and preserving my 105 since 1975. Had it not been for that sheath design, my knife would not look like it does today.

Well, since both knife and sheath both look like they've never been worn.......

:)

I can assure you that the knife and sheath have been used a lot! In life, the sheath has more scratches and imperfections than in the photo. But thanks!

Makael, I have no doubt that you'll find more than a few customers here for a sheath of that design, myself included. My #102 sheath is starting to show it's age.

Beginning with the 119 swivel sheaths to present, I always assumed Buck moved the snap to the finger groove side to nearly eliminate the possibility of unsnapping. Curious, has anyone had problems with accidental unsnapping on these sheaths?

I never had any issue while hunting or surveying in various terrains, including thick alder swales that seem to grab you as you walk through.

I've spent too much on knives this year... seeing the custom 119 options is painful. I'd get a matching one for my 110 (S30V, buckeye burl, tossup between brass and aluminum with micarta).
