Long time lurking here but still a newbie although this is my second sabenza probably won't be my last either.
My new Wilson 25 came back from a warranty job-- very fast turnaround, might I say, but it came back with a something on the handle, which I did not notice until today when carrying it.
Can I rid of it myself? Do I need to send it back?

Is looks like a scuff or maybe oil?

It isn't a scuff for sure, not oil either because it won't get washed off.
There are at three spots but the picture doesn't really show them well:
One by the R, a smaller one by the screw and the bigger one across the handle.

Try windex...

Let me start by saying that no, it shouldn't come back with scuffs. However, is everything functionally fine with the knife? If so and you are going to use it then think of those marks as a head start:thumbup:

Are you sure you did not scuff it up when carrying it....??? There is no way CRK would send a Sebenza back with scuffs unless you specified you did not want the full spa treatment.

Definitely most likely not.
I received it new and took out the lanyard. When doing so, I noticed the washer was bent and didnt think much of it until well... The blade was stiff and the pivot screw kept loosing up. Therefore, I had the knife out for no more than an hour before I boxed it up to be sent.

When I received it back, I check the blade and put it away until today when I decided to carry it and noticed it later in the day.
It could have been me... While in my pocket?
but looking at how there are three scratches, I have my doubts. However, my assumption is Chris Reeve shop are professionals who I'm sure take good care of customers' knives but here a mistake could have been made... After all, the washer on my new knife was bent from manufactury.

Everything works perfect now.
And I did think of the same but darn!! It's a brand new senbenza!

I'm sure sorry to see this. I'm going through similar with a BNIB with a cosmetic issue. Part of me wants to immediately send it back, but it's serialized and I kind of don't want to risk it. I would say take a good pic, and email CRK and see what the quality control manager says. I'm gonna carry it, but it's a machine mark so it will never look like wear, and will drive me nuts probably forever. If I try and take it out myself, then I modified the scale and I can't get warranty work in the future.

So tough spot to be in. Seeing as you sent it in once, I'm sure you can ask to send it back and have a rush job.

JMHO.

If it were me and I was going to carry and use it like you are, I'd chalk it up to an unknown. It is sure to get many battle wounds over the coming years, which will make this one seem insignificant.

Please keep in mind that CRK does not and will not knowingly send anything blemished out. As Chris said in one of the Sticky's, they are actually human and if you did send this one back, I know they wouldn't ask questions. They will always do whatever it takes to make things right with you and to make you feel whole again. They are passionate about keeping satisfied customers.

I am sure they would appreciate your feedback, regardless. Please inform them of the issue so that if there is a problem with a system, employee, etc, they are aware.

Out of curiosity, how long was your turn around time? I sent a 21 in and got the email that they received it a week ago. Mine went in for a simple spa service.

I believe warranty service is faster... But mine took no more than two weeks back to me from when I sent it.

Looks like your threw it into your pocket with something that rubbed off a nice "trail" on it.

I will refrain from comment.

How did you know the washer was bent when it's in cased between 2 slabs of titanium and a S35VN blade tightened down with a blade pivot screw...???

^ Exactly what I was thinking, unless as he took the knife apart ithe washer rebent into a position that was simply flattened out by installation.

But does copper retain a bend? It is not spring steel.

Humm... I understand many love Chris Reeves knives myself included but there are some interesting comments here.
But let us recognize that most knives come out off production perfect, you have to admit that like any products, a few get out out of specs.

Chris Reeve still makes very fine knives.
