NEW 531-1501 Dealer Exclusive

The color is ok...

You can always RIT dye them. G10 absorbs the dye really well and no harm should come to your scales.. Super easy DIY with unique results.

The other one at the store was hitting the scales on one side and the grinds were uneven.

I’ve handled/inspected fourteen of these models.. Out of those fourteen, I’ve only found/purchased three with decent grinds.. Blade centering & uneven edges are easy fixes for me, I just can’t stand asymmetrical grinds. I already informed a rep from BM about these QC issues.

My initial impression of the color was ok...it is growing on me fast.I can't believe how much better this knife feels in the hand and operates. It is in my pocket all the time.I figured Benchmade reads this forum so when users here report QC problems I bet they pay attention...even so thanks for bringing it up with them.I guess I was lucky to get a nice one out of a sample size of 2 based on your experience.I did not like the regular 531 G10 color so I passed.I wish I could get a M390 531!That would be cool.My EDC tasks mostly involve cutting plastic and opening packages...but when I open packages I use the unsharpened side of the blade to zip the tape.I figure why not save the edge some wear. The spear point of the original 530 is really good for this as well as a letter opener. This blade seems a better slicer. So far I am very pleased with it.It is pricey...but very nice!

I picked one of these up today at the Boston REI. They had three in the store. I checked primary and secondary bevels, swedge grind, centering, etc. All three were very consistent and very well-executed. It's a nice little knife and will make a nice addition to my collection of REI Benchmade knives going back to the original CF 940 version that goes back to 2007 (IIRC).

As far as I know, this is the whole REI/Benchmade family, although the 530-901 and, I believe, the 585-110, had some blade variations (coated/satin and/or plain/serrated variants).

So today was the first day you can use your REI dividend and they are doing 20% off which looks to apply to all Benchmades, so I had to stop by and grab one.

Anyone know if they make a deep carry for this model, and if not which matches it?

You can use the standard BKC deep carry clip found on the 810 contego (Example Post № 4).. Call/email BM customer service and they’ll send you one.

Lol, I have called for clips before, I called this time and told the lady I wanted contego clips and she asked which other knives I was putting them on.....so she could send me the correct screws. So I just ended up asking for screw sets for all my knives and a stack of deep pocket clips.

Apparently they get calls for the deep pocket contego's alot.

I would like some help please from my fellow BFC members.

I just got on the REI website to buy the new 531, but noticed postage/shipping to Sydney Australia is quoted at nearly $80USD!!!!!

I've bought many items from the States in the past and have never paid over $25USD for postage.

I was wondering if I paid for the 531 online- they offer a free postage service inside the US, or pick up/collection service- could someone mail it to me???? I am taking all the risk and putting all my trust in whoever can do this for me

I know this is a bit unusual but it's the only way to get it at a reasonable cost without being gouged on postage.

Please respond to this post or send me an email/PM

Really appreciate any help I can get on this

Thanks

Con

Come on guys- is no one going to help me buy one of these????

Please!!!!!!

Is anyone willing to part with the 530 Carbon Fiber from REI? Because I'd be willing to buy it. I might also be interested in the 530-111 if the price was right. PM me if you have one and are willing to sell it.
