New 710 M390 Black/blue G10 Arrived Today

Oh my god, is that a 710 with decent blade centering?! They really must paid attention to these. Also, is it just me or do the swedges look very uneven?

Benchmade seems to have corrected some QC issues present in the 810-1401 and 940-1 that I have.

Good eye on the swedges! I just checked and they're definitely not symmetrical on mine!

Never was a fan of the 710. I carried one for months and just wouldn't grow on me. This one however...I MUST own someday! Looks absolutely perfect. Great job by benchmade!

The finishing on the blade grinds is why I said this knife will be a great user. I dont know if the finishing was intentional or to save costs, but my 810 M390 has better finishing. The blade could have been finished better in my eyes, Its still a great user as is..,,

I think the rougher satin finish on the flats must be intentional. It is very even and well-directed. I quite enjoy the aesthetic of it, as most satin finishes tend towards higher polishes.

Wow what a beautiful knife. I am new to knife collecting and would like to know other than a great looking knifWill it increase in value over time?

I think if anyone wants a real nice version of the 710 this is it.Its also about the smoothest 710 ive had, too. ive have a dozen or so different ones since 1999, & this one is the best.Took 15 years for it to finally click. this thing is a machine.Wheres cutter17;he's not getting away from this one so easily!

Agreed. It's consistent and evenly done and from knife to knife.

Are you referring to the angled machine or brush lines on the flat side of the blade? It does look too nice not to have been done on purpose. I hope they can pull it off regularly on other models.

My Knifeworks AFCK sprint has a half tumbled/half satin finish I really like & I assumed that this 710 would have the same finish. What sort of finish do the regular 710s in D2 have?

Yes the even angular grind marks on the flats near the spine. I like it too.

My 710D2 is black so I don't know. I know the swedge on it is very even on both sides because I looked last night.

I looked at the angled brush lines on the flats through my 20X loupe. It seems the lines may be intentional because they where applied after the logo/model etching. The angular brush lines on the flats are above the logo/ etchings. The grit used and the angular brush lines seem to be similar to the grit used to sharpen the bevels from my guesstimate. They look more like scratches than bush lines made on a machine to my eyes. They make the knife look a little more unique to me.I may need an education as to what is the difference between brush lines and scratches.I can see uniform brush lines on other parts of the blade, but the lines/scratches on the flats seem like they were done freehand by an abrasive(steel wool?).I am not complaining as the knife is really nice but those are the observations I see with my eyes.

Man that's pretty! I would get myself in real trouble right now if I bought one though. Coming home with a DDM4V5 unannounced has put me in the impulse buying dog house for awhile. Still...it was worth it..lol

For those who do not have one yet, these are the angled machined lines they are referring to:

$200 on knifeworks....yeah id own one now if not so pricey. I love the blue g10. My blue/black g10 ares models i own are my favorite
