New #85 EZ open

Peter is right hahaha, once you see it ...gotta have it. Theres something about it, thats where mine came from. Cool link Pertinux that sums it up then.

By the way this exact one was kind of hard to find.so if your looking pm me and ill show you where they have these and ones with diff handle materials.

That's a real looker there!

The 1095 is so nice to sharpen, I love it. Hopefully you get a lifetime of pleasure from that beauty!

"P", thanks for the link to "pile" discussion. Helpful to learn that old Sheffield FB's were only welded to the tang from the back(pile)side.

Yessir, I think she should do just fine. Judging by the quality I will be giving it to one of my sons in 40 years or so...take care.

It looks great! Enjoy that blade, and the beautiful patina that will form quickly if used on food!

Funny thing, the patina has already started...wondering what caused it as I haven't used it on any foods nor has she been in any acidic situations..could it be from the oil in my hands?

I like a good patina just as much as the next guy, don't get me wrong, I was just hoping to enjoy the shiny for a little longer. This streight 1095 is much different than the c.v 1095 I am used to.

The "shiny" really doesn't go away on these high polish blades from the Northfield line. The patina comes in and adds some beautiful color, and the shine stays. This picture was taken outside on an overcast day, and the evenly patinaed blade still washes out from reflections. Not the best photo, but hope it shows what I'm trying to convey.

Mike,

That knife is a beauty! That one will only get more adored with time imo. Btw, if you keep using it the mirror polish will go bye bye if you let the patina form. My mirror polish 73 stag turned black a few times. Thick thick patinas. But they are always changing and some things will even lighten it back to greys. Enjoy :)

That's perfect finedges, so that's what its gonna look like. Thank you very much, there couldn't be a better time lapse photo. It just drives me bananas because its been in the tube for like 4 years then in two days of being in my hands its starting to patina. But now that you've explained about it, I like patina but I love shiny patina. Thanks again for posting that pic.

I would love to see the black patina with the stag...sounds beautiful.

Ya not sure on the easy opens but looks like the two blade version with stag handles are going out the door at the factory (non-easy open). The pic is still up on their website and on their facebook page.

That is a darn fine looking knife and WILL be my next GEC! Size looks about perfect too!
