At one point I had, um, 4 Kel-Tec products. KT sometimes has quality issues (which they will remedy), but they have had a history of making some very innovative firearms at affordable prices.

In '99, KT showed the P-32. I loved this light, flat little pistol. It was lighter and thinner than the NAA, Beretta, and Autauga competitors, but allowed a better grip. It also had a fairly nice trigger pull- and cost significantly less than the competitors.

When the Kel-Tec P-3AT .380 arrived a few years later, it also drew lots of buyers. Barely larger than the P-32 (fits most P-32 holsters), many shooters liked the idea of carrying the more potent .380 in a pocket-sized package.

Well, it looks like KT has done it again. On the 9th, KT unveiled their new 9mm at the SHOT show. It will be the lightest and flattest 9x19mm ever made.

Interesting.

Shooting my P-3AT is unpleasant for me, probably on account of the size of my hands. I think that I'll pass on a 9mm version. ;)

I like Kel-Tec and I think they've created their own niche in the market, and at the prices they sell at I can't see anyone bumping them out of it any time soon. That being said, who came up with the idea of adding an accessory rail to what's essentially (if I'm understanding their design philosophy accurately) a modern pocket pistol?

The PF-9 is the same height and length as the P-11, Dave. They only took the P-3AT features of trigger pull and extraction- the majority of the weapon is a flatter P-11 (with a better trigger).

As for the light rail, there are some silly people out there. OTOH, if someone only had the money for a single handgun, I suppose they might slap on a weapon light at night before they got into bed...

sweet looking gun! I might have to get rid of my 340 to get one of those.

I never have understood the popularity of weapon mounted lights, or at least not for us silly-vilians. It seems to me thier primary purpose is target identification, but for the average joe guys like myself, most targets you're going to identify will be the kid up and wandering the house, the cat getting into the house plants, a stray dog venturing across the yard, etc. All of which are cases I DO NOT want my gun pointing at them while I'm still trying to identify them.

If I were raiding meth labs for a living I'm sure I'd feel quite differently.

I definitely understand that.

I think KT is figuring that, if they can do it without significantly increasing cost, and some people dig it, why not?

I guess it does add appeal to the folks who like that kinda thing without taking anything away from those of us who don't.

It certainly aint slowing me down.:D

Good one Spectre.

I already got my e-mail sent for a pattern when they are available...Prolly buy one as well:thumbup:

I have a P3-AT, my back-up/summer belly gun. I have a 9 mm CZ75B and an
IMI Jericho 941FB Semi-Compact in 9. Both are great guns.
I might consider the CZ 2075 RAMI in 9, but I have .40 RAMI so why bother.
I hope Kel-Tec irons out thier issues, and has success. They have some cool ideas.

I remember days when I dreamed of new models of handguns.....

Bet that kicks a little bit. People buy the Nine being told it's friendly to shoot yet still powerful enough to finish off a bad guy. They get the lightest ones they can because it is easier to carry. The Nine is not a pussy cat in a light weapon, though it certainly isn't a Tiger.

Yeah, munk, seems to me alot of folks underate the 9mm round.
Because it isnt an ashtray goin' mach 2+ it isnt lethal enough.
Most of those guys have never seen the end result of a bullet impacting anything but paper.
Plain fact is that flying metal and human beings don't mix real well.

My 2075 RAMI is a snappy handful weighing only 23 oz. The short slide and 3 in barrel make for a flippy muzzle in such a small gun.
It's easy to carry (lawfully btw), and serves it's purpose.

Sounds good bro...I see "SYN" in your future:D

Daddy...The CZ75B is on my top ten list easily...Gotta get around to getting another one...FWIW the best CZ holstermaking dude around is Eric at HBELeatherworks.com...When I finally get around to getting another 75 I plan on getting a IWB made by him...yea I could do it myself, but what about that "Physician heal thyself" thingy?:D

Had a Rami as a pattern to play with for a bit..hated that little bugger..Wish they had sent me a 9mm (I got small hands);)

What Munk said!

The P-11 doesn't weigh that much more...it *does* kick a bit. I imagine the PF-9 will kick more.

But I'll bet the PF-9 will not be too bad with standard 9x19 ammo.

John,
I read one review of it posted by one of the gun dudes at Kel-tec that posts over at..ahhh..hmm Dont think I can post that..If anyone would like to know Holla at me and I will tell ya

BUT anywho, he stated that it kicked a bit more than the p-11 but not to any appreciable degree...I think it has more to do with the finger groove on the mag bottom than anything...The p-11 with the finger groove was always easy to shoot IMO...but P-11's do MELT!!! remember that!!!!

Ruger .357's DONT melt..they just discolor:D

Kel-tec P-11's, P3AT's, and P-32's MELT!!:( :thumbdn:

It can't be any worse than the P3-AT.
The shape of the grip, and narrowness, focus the majority of the recoil in a very small area. Not a gun I enjoy running a couple hundred rds at a
whack through.

Leather, Eric is a real good guy, and does a quality product.
I have FIST and an El Paso Leather holsters for my CZ's and Jericho.

I have CZitis REAL bad.
CZ 97 .45 ACP
CZ 75B in 40 S&W
CZ 75B in 9mm
Kadett .22 conversion kit
CZ 2075 RAMI in 40 S&W

Daddy,
I think the kick will be more "snappy" with a bit of flip but I dont think it will be worse than the P3AT...My guess would be P-11 "ish" shooting 115+p Corbons...But that is a guess at this point...The P-11 is tolerable shooting the 124grn +P's so I figure it will give ya a nice nudge but thats it...

200 rounds at a time?? Nah not for me either....75-100 is about all I would shoot any one pistol at a time unless it is a .22lr!<~~kinda wimpy:)

Eric a good guy?? yuppers there wouldn't be an Azrael's without him:D

Fist and El Paso?? Ya got good taste dude:thumbup:

CZ97?? gimme one in 10mm and I will stop e-mailing Jason!

That's a really fine looking 9mm Spectre. Is it a single stack magazine? Just checked the KT website and the P9's not up yet. I have a fondness for Kel-Tec myself. Got a K3AT for my wife and I carry it more than she does. It's just so handy. Very high power to weight ratio. When I want more power and don't mind a little larger package, I go with a Kahr PM40. Six rounds of 40 SW from a 16.9 oz handgun. Pretty awesome.

Spectre,

Thank you for posting that. I love Kel-Tec's products, but I don't always catch the latest news.
