Greg, I see what you mean. I like it just how it is but I don't use it for very long periods at a time, just a few times throug hthe day.
If I were you I would either modify the knife, or have someone else do it, plenty of guys could do a great job.
It wouldn't be too hard to shorten the wharncliffe by half an inch, 1 inch or whatever you like, grinding away the metal on an angle if so the blade will sit much lower, then grind some off the ricasso where the stop pin touches, allowing the blade to sit much lower in the handle.
What do you think of that?
If it makes you enjoy the knife more, I say do it!
