just won on ebay a new knife for me it was a Schrade 735 SS FOLDING JACK POCKET KNIFE. Being new at the collecting game was wondering if i made a nice bid or did i get something that everyone has?
 
you did o.k. i have 3 older Schrade Walden 735 Rigger's knife (aka Marlin Spike). it's fairly common on these for spike lock to no longer work and for spike to have play. it's a useful pattern, easy to sharpen the straight edge of the rope blade; a good user in this case. now look for one where spike lock works and does not have letters scratched into it. every collector needs a few of these anyway. roland
 
Its an excellent knife. I have 2 mint from the original Schrade collection on my corner on Larry's site. Page 33 top line.I'll take some close ups.

the knife came in and it is in good condition except for the etching. now all i have to do is figure out how to remove it safely.
 
I'd suggest finding someone with some skills to buff it off the blade. It looks like it was done with a vibroengraver (electric pencil), so expect some loss to the blade thickness. The "tinkering and embelishing" forum would be a good place to look for someone to do it right for a reasonable price.
