Was thinking a few weeks ago how I am very often out in the boonies by myself playing with very sharp things, and thought it might be smart to add this to my pack:

Don't know much about it but the actual use of it seems pretty straight forward. I know it is for severe bleeding, and doesn't cause the burning that some of the similar products do. Any of you EMT/medical types have any more information?

I tough about getting that to my 1st aid kit too.

I think they work on the anticoagulant present in the blood and blocks it, thus making the blood coagulate also the blood own plaquets also work in the coagolation, the result is a very fast clotting time.

However this seems more orientated to severe wounds and open tissue, rather than simple cuts.

Yeah, I have a ventilated Operator's blowout kit with Quik Clot. Also keep some of those little bulbs for small cuts & nosebleeds. Almost need some recently, but managed to stop the bleeding without clotting agent nor stitches. Gotta watch it with those Scandis.

Yep and it is for deep tissue trauma with severe bleeding. It's primary component is chitosan (material from shellfish and mollusks) which doesn't have the "exothermic reaction" (i.e. - burning) as the other products out there. Guys from my old consulting firm with EMT and TacMed backgrounds have them in their packs.

It is for large wounds..... and be careful with it.... if you use it wrong it can do more damage than good.
