New Additions

That manjushree sword is just spectacular, and so is the monster AK! The old folder is really nice as well.

But JWB, I grew up in upstate NY in "the snow belt", and then spent 10 years in Michigan, and I don't miss the cold and all that white stuff at all - that was a big reason why I moved here to New Mexico. We did get 2" of snow here in the foothills of the Sandia mountains on Sunday night, from that big storm that swept through from Cali. But it's almost all melted off, and will be gone by this afternoon. That's just about the right amount of winter for me. If I want more snow, it's a short drive north to Colorado.

Yeah.. I live in Portage, MI. We get all the lake effect here. Dreading the the day when we get our first real snow fall here.

Holy heck those are beautiful! Purna makes a good looking Dui Chirra now doesn't he? And that rajkumar...I mean...wow.

Cool stuff phillllllll! Them deep carvings are cool on that Nuwakot. Looks kind of Kobra shaped. And that Purna Dui is gorgeous man. You could put your rubber duckies in them fullers:thumbup:

The engravings are Nepali flags on one side and some sort of tree/vine on the other.

I got this a few weeks ago from another forumite. It's not an HI blade, but it's from Dharan where Yangdu has been getting chainpuris recently.

A little small for my hand, but I like it as a work of art. Baby Chitlangi, 10.5" OAL and weighs 7 oz. Deep fullers. Even the chakmak and karda have brass bolsters and butt caps.

That's gorgeous. The attention to detail on the chakmak and karda is really nice.

Omg Philll! I think you might have the nicest "large bladed" khukri collection. Love that baby AK, Yuvraj is putting out some great stuff. The Rajkumar piece is spectacular, I only have one piece by him, but anything by him is a treasure.

We all know by now that Purna Kami is an upcoming star in HI. I was lucky enough to grab one of his first if not the first khuk he made for HI. I have the original Yek Chirra that got the forum abuzz. Steely named it the light saber which I find to be the perfect name for it due to its lines.

It truely is a masterpiece that I will never part with. Your Dui Chirra reminds me a lot of my yek. It has the same traditional flowing blade, yet the handle is so modern if not futuristic. You got a prize there! Thanks for the pics my bearded brotha!

Here's a pic of my Purna Yek Light Saber

Here are three of my new additions:

The top knife is an M43 by Dil Kami, 18" OAL, 35 oz.

Middle knife is a Dui Chirra by Sher Kami, 17.5" OAL, 32 oz.

Bottom is a Fish Knife by Yuvraj Kami, 11" OAL, 5 oz.

I couldn't get the lighting right to show the fullers on the Sher Dui Chirra, but they look just like the Purna Dui Chirra that Phil posted in this thread. In fact the whole knife looks just like the Purna version except for a couple of differences in the handle, but the shape of the handle is the same. It's very comfortable in the hand and my first dhar wood handle. Magnet test shows that the bolster and butt plate are steel rather than white metal.

The Fish Knife is very nice, much more solid than you might think from the 5 oz weight. The contours of the blade are both good looking and practical; the curved belly lets you get into spots that a flat knife couldn't reach. The handle is very comfortable in spite of its narrow girth, and there is a good flat area on the spine just in front of the handle that allows excellent fine control for small work. For most purposes I would hold this knife with my thumb on the spine in front of the handle, and first finger on the flat spot under the blade in front of the handle. The spine thickness is 3/16", and that's for most of the length and most of the width of the blade, which is pretty solid for a smallish knife like this. (Actually it's only "small" by HI standards. The blade is 6" long, after all.)

I suppose it would also make a decent self-defense knife, because the handle comes to a point, allowing a wicked backward strike as well as whatever the blade can do. And it wouldn't scare people like carrying a khukuri.
