Ah yes! Since my divorce, I've been able to buy the Hawken rifle I've always wanted and the truck I've needed. I also have more time to spend in the shop banging on steel.

A better anvil is on the way this weekend and I'm building a bigger and better forge. I'm also upgrading to a real commercially made knife grinder so I can get serious and spend the summer forging blades full time. I don't even care if I make a dime.

Spring bear season just started, so this baby will get some use for sure. :)

Thanks again to all you shoptalk forumites who've been there with kind words and helpful advice.

Life is good. :D

You're supposed to have less money after a divorce. Why are things going so well for you (glad they are!)?

I had an SUV that I traded in for the truck+cash. I actually made out better than if I sold my SUV and bought a truck outright. I had a truck before, but a certain someone convinced me to trade it in on a Montero. Never again will I be without a truck. :)

I've been going through my climbing equipment from my bigwall and expedition days and selling off the stuff I never used. Climbers tend to acquire a ridiculous amount of gear that is quite expensive. I could've filled a large shop with nice equipment with the money I spent on climbing gear. Each time I sell off a few pieces, I stuff it in my knife grinder/anvil fund envelope.

I know what you mean about the climbing equipment. I never even got into trad or bigwall and I've got lots I don't and probably won't ever use.

When I got divorced in 92 (man has it been that long ago?), I had to sell my F250 and all my hunting rifles. Took a while, but I've got a mess-o-front loaders now, and I've owned 3 trucks in that time. I'll never do without a truck, my current one is a 2000 Ford Ranger XLT, extended cab with OFF Road features.
