I received my new AR in S30V from TAD this morning. Thanks again Josh, you are first rate! I thought I knew what to expect from this knife from reading the posts and looking at the pictures but they did not prepare me for this! This thing is F@$%*ing BIG - and I love it! This is a folder on Steroids!!! Sharp and rock solid, no play anywhere. Great Knife!!!

My S30V AR rolled in today courtesy of TAD. I was bracing myself for a massive folder and Strider has delivered. Actually the knife is not so big as to be impossible to carry. I don't think it would work with dress pants, but it is fairly comfy to carry in blue jeans. Fit and finish on my AR are very good. The tiger stripe finish is not quit up to the finish on my Simonich Raven, but time will be the real judge as I see how it holds up to daily use. When the big blade on this folder is deployed you would be hard pressed not to think you were holding a rugged fixed blade. The massive locking liner gives this user real piece of mind. Also, if someone can find a way to shear the pivot pin on this knife in a real word situation I would be shocked. I wish some other makers would overbuild thier folders like this. I'm new to the world of Striders, but the AR has convinced me that I need a few more in my humble collection. The only problem is where to start.

The stripes will not look as good because the striders are just a carbon deposit left over from heat treating and Rob's blades are actually coated. Apples and oranges.

Kevin,

Actually I carry my AR almost constantly and that includes dress pants! I wear dress pants for work every day and my AR rides just fine. Sometimes I use the clip and sometimes I place it inside the pocket out of sight (depends on the situation). Either way it works well with jeans or dress pants!:D

I stand corrected on the dress pants comment. Today I carried my Strider to work and was happy to see that no one noticed. Of course I work in a casual environment so the knife was in the pocket of my jeans. The more I play with the AR the more I like it. Now I need to find a GB folder and a BT fixed blade to ease my new Strider cravings.

Looks?? Who gives a rat's ass? This folder is made to be USED and used HARD. And after just a little hard use it's gonna get all scratched up. Consider those scratches to be badges of honor that show that the knife has been subjected to the purposes for which it was intended. I absolutely love it! :)

I got my new flat grind S30V AR yesterday, and I really love it.

I did not like the first AR I had, mainly because I thought it was just too huge, and the fit & finish left a bit to be desired, but this latest generation is a real winner.

I'm looking forward to putting the AR through it's paces in the next few weeks, so that I can say without a doubt and from personal experience that the AR really is extremely tough.

Oh, and many thanks to the Strider guys for making this latest version with a more reversible thumbstud, for us lefties...the reversed thumbstud and screw fit pretty good, instead of sticking out like a diamond in a goat's ass..

Still and all though, one thumbstud just has a unbalanced look, and dual thumbstuds would be nice, for righties and lefties.
