Hey everyone, the other day I registered on here, I don't quite have the money right now to pay for
a subscription, but I have been using the forums for a lot of research and its been coming in handy.
A little while ago, I bought a Becker BK-9, and soon after that I got the Becker Necker, since the
BK-9 doesn't come with BK-13 Remora anymore-a (I thought it still did up until right before buying it)
Anyways, I purchased these because I am DONE with folding knives. I am not a survival extremist or
anything, but I'm sick of taking folders when I go camping and not being able to, or worrying about
using them the way I want to. The Combat Bowie and the Becker Necker are now my collection,
besides my TacForce bearclaw. I am no expert but I can tell these two knives are quality. They
are pretty much unused as far as heavy use, I am planning on stripping them both of the epoxy coating
and doing a wicked forced patina. I like the Grivory scales ok on the 9, but they seem a little slick for
my taste in...well, safety. I need to get some micarta for the BK-11 as I used the black paracord that
came with it on the sheath. I know a few of you out there have micarta scales for your Beckers, or
even specifically the Necker ones, so I need some advice because I want to dye them. After looking
through some threads I noticed a lot of people use RIT dye for micarta, and most of you dye your scales
brown, so I guess I'll probably do something like that, since it looks pretty sweet. I looked at their website
and got a little overwhelmed by the color chart. I mean, theres a lot. These dyes are
meant for cloth I think, so I'm not sure if the color I choose will look like I think it will. Sooo, what I really
need is a reference, as in, please show me your dyed micarta scales (brown or green) and tell me what
color you used, or what brand if you didn't use RIT. Thank you very much in advance, this would really
help me out.

Here is mine. They are NOT dyed. They darken up with use.

Welcome Mantodea!
Micarta is a must as far as I'm concerned. Well worth the price.
I haven't dyed mine though.
I kind of like the way they come.
The 11/9 is a fine combo!

thanks all.
@Psyop: Nice honey badger

maybe I will just try to have patience.
I just really don't like the pale tan that
they come in.

yes, I did my research for sure. I was also thinking of getting the
Machax too, because I don't own a machete. Though I could probably
use the BK-9 as one if I had to I guess. Not the same though.

@Foreman2000: yes, I will be getting some camo and orange paracord for lanyards if I
decide to practice handle wrapping on my 11. Though since I will be stripping it, I want something
I can take off easily like micarta to dry the knife off, it rains here a lot. Today it rained, hailed and snowed.
Oregon is kind of a puddle.

@SaturatedShadow: Looks good, thats basically the direction I am wanting to go with my 9. Are those
micarta though? I don't see the grain or texture, and they look so shiny.
